Culture of India is rich and diverse and as a result it's unique in its very own way. Across the world Indian culture and its rich heritage is admired and respected. The culture in India has adapted throughout the various eras of history, all the time absorbing customs, traditions, and ideas from both invaders and immigrants. India's culture being one of the oldest and unique has an amazing cultural diversity throughout the country. A travel to the South, North, and Northeast one will come across each region having their own distinct cultures. Today, every state has carved for itself one's own cultural niche. India is a vast country, with a variety of geographical features and climatic conditions. Moreover, there is hardly any culture in the world that is as varied and unique as India culture.
India has been home to some of the most ancient civilizations, some of the world's famous religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. Many of the cultural practices, languages, customs, and monuments are fine examples of the co-mingling of religions over the centuries. In modern India, there exists a big diversity in the culture throughout the entire country. Despite of the diversity, the whole of the country is bound as a civilization due to its common history, thereby preserving the national identity.
Indian culture is a compound mix of varying styles and influences. In the case of cuisine, for example, the North and the South are totally different. Indian festivals are portrayed by color, gaiety, enthusiasm, prayers and rituals. When music comes in, there are varieties of folk, popular, pop, and classical music. The classical tradition of music in India includes the Carnatic and the Hindustani music.
The unity of the people in the country, with so much diversity is pride of the nation. The nation's wide range of religions, culture, customs and languages are great sources of pride. The manners, way of communicating with one another, etc are one of the important components of the culture in India. The Indian people have accepted modern means of living, improved lifestyle, with the traditional values and beliefs still remaining unchanged. Indian culture treats its guests as god and serves them and takes care of them as if they are a part and parcel of their family. Elders and the respect for elders is a major aspect in Indian culture. Elders are the driving force for any family and hence the love and respect for elders comes from within and is not just made up. An individual takes blessings from his elders by touching their feet.
