A lake parallel to the Osman Sagar Lake is a slightly smaller lake called the Himayat Sagar. It is named after the youngest son of the seventh Nizam, Himayat Ali Khan. The grassy area adjoining the lake is an ideal picnic spot and the road atop the bund can make a good road for a drive. Take a long drive to Himayat Sagar on a holiday. This lovely combination of clean air, sparkling water and a lush area makes the perfect picnic spot. The lake landscape gardens and a swimming pool are some of its attractions.

Built across river Krishna , it is the world's largest masonry dam. About 150 km from Hyderabad , Nagarjuna Sagar is also an important Buddhist centre. Called Vijayapuri in ancient times, it has been renamed after Buddhist saint Acharya Nagarjuna. Seventeen centuries old Buddhist civilization, discovered during the construction of the dam, has been excavated and preserved here at Nagarjunakonda, an island in the midst of the man-made Nagarjunasagar Lake .
